Early symptoms of paralytic polio include high fever, headache, stiffness in the back and neck, asymmetrical weakness of various muscles, sensitivity to touch, muscle pain, loss of superficial and deep reflexes, paresthesia ( pins and needles ), irritability, constipation, or difficulty urinating.
